Christine Yu fired a five-under par 66 to stake the Athenas to a seven-shot lead after the opening round of the 2026 SCIAC Women’s Golf Championship.

Individual Leaderboard
Yu took control of the individual leaderboard early with an eagle on the third hole and added three birdies for a -4 front nine, then birdied another two after the turn for a three-stroke edge over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges rookie
Annabele Chan, whose Sagehens sit in second place on shot ahead of the University of Redlands. California Lutheran University is five shots back in fourth place followed by Chapman University, Occidental College and the University of La Verne.
Esther Lee of CMS is third on the leaderboard at -1 while Pomona-Pitzer’s
Eunice Yi ranks fourth at Even par, followed by
Caroline Morris of California Lutheran University another stroke back in fifth place.
Santa Anita Golf Course played slightly tougher over the front nine than the back, with every team over-par on both the Par 3s and 4s. CMS and Redlands were able to attack the Par 5s successfully, netting -4 apiece while Pomona-Pitzer played them at Even par.
Alisa Ching was the lone golfer to come in under par for Par 3s at -1 while three Sagehens and Yu got under par on the Par 4s.
Tomorrow’s second round will begin at 9 a.m. with the men’s teams teeing off first and the women’s scheduled for approximately 10:10 a.m.
