Pomona-Pitzer Colleges first-year
Annabelle Chan swept both Athlete and Newcomer of the Year awards after tying for the low three-round total at the SCIAC Championship, where the Sagehens finished runner-up. The rookie also placed first individually and tied-second as Pomona-Pitzer won both the SCIAC regular season tournaments held on Morongo Golf Course in Tukwet Canyon and Olivas Links, respectively. Chan joins three previous double-winners in their debut season: Caroline Ordian (2015, Redlands), Kendall Nicholson (2019, Redlands) and Esther Lee (2023, CMS).
Occidental College's
Rachel Aujero was presented the Character Award, given to a senior who who best exemplifies success on the course, in the classroom and with involvement in community and school service. A three-time All-SCIAC selection and two-time team captain, Aujero has been the consummate teammate and leader for the Tigers. The politics major with a religious studies minor has served as a Project SAFE peer advocate in addition to involvement with the PUSO club, Boundless Brilliance, Humanities for Just COmmunities Cohort and AAPIDA.
Keilee Bessho and CMS were awarded Coaching Staff of the Year acknowledgment in leading the Athenas to an Even-par 864 to win the SCIAC Championship by 11 strokes. All five players made the All-Conference teams, including
Christine Yu tying for individual top medalist honors as one of three CMS finishers among the top five.
Pomona-Pitzer and the University of Redlands each landed three All-SCIAC picks while California Lutheran nabbed two First team spots. Oxy's Aujero and the University of La Verne's
Alexis Aguilera earned the final two slots.
Esther Lee closed out a brilliant career with four First Team honors while Yu picked up a second consecutive First Team and third career recognition, which Aujero and Pomona-Pitzer's
Rachel LeMay matched. Another Sagehen in
Eunice Yi and CLU's
Maya Dela Rama stepped up to the First Team this season while the Redlands duo of
Savanah Christenson and
Jizelle Robledo repeated on the Second Team.
