Pomona-Pitzer’s Chan, Zhao Named All America Among 10 All-Region Picks

Four SCIAC women’s golf student-athletes were named All-America by the WGCA at the Division III NCAA Women’s Golf Championship banquet in Palm Desert, Calif. ahead of the four-day Championship hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.

SCIAC Athlete of the Year Annabelle Chan and Ann Zhao of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges were recognized on the 11-player First Team that also included multiple selections from No.1 Emory University (three), No. 2 New York University (two), No. 3 Carnegie Mellon University (three) and one from Washington University in St. Louis. Pomona-Pitzer is ranked sixth nationally entering the tournament. Both were also named to the five-player All-Freshman Team presented by the AJGA.
 
Two other Sagehens, Lisa Chu and Eunice Yi, joined Alisa Ching from CMS as Honorable Mention honorees. John Wurzer received Golf Pride West Region Coach of the Year accolades while Esther Lee and Christine Yu represented CMS and Savanah Christenson, Chloe Phan and Jizelle Robledo of the University of Redlands were all named All-Region 5/West.
