Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges outlasted California Lutheran University, 12-7, in a battle between the joint runners-up in the regular season to advance to the final of the 2026 SCIAC Women's Water Polo Tournament.

The game could have gone either way through a tight first quarter after which the teams remained deadlocked at 2-2. The Regals took a 3-2 lead early in the second but the Athenas went on a 5-1 run to head into halftime and matched the three-goal edge in the third quarter, then locked down on defense in a fourth quarter that yieled just a lone CLU tally to put the game out of reach.
Caitlin Munoz recorded a hat trick and dished out three assists while
Mason Spencer made three saves in one half of time between the posts.
Izzy de Souza impressed early for CLU with three saves in the first four minutes before departing due to injury.
The Athenas will face four-time defending champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the final on Saturday, Apr. 18 at 11 a.m.
