NCAA Tournament: Leopards Reach Second Straight Volleyball Quarterfinal

The University of La Verne completed a reverse sweep against Johns Hopkins University, 3-2, to claim another regional title on the road and reach a second consecutive quarterfinal round of the NCAA Volleyball Championship.

After Mya Ray was held to just seven kills as the Leopards committed 18 attacking errors over the first two sets, the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year caught fire to key the furious rally. Ending with a career-high 37 kills, the Ray also led the team with 21 digs to go with a pair of aces and two blocks. Lauren Gott also notched a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs while America Reynaga and Vanessa Marquez combined for 45 assists.

The Leopards will take Thanksgiving week off before returning to the court at Illinois Wesleyan University on Dec. 3, when they will face the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the re-seeded #4 vs. #5 matchup.
