In Pomona-Pitzer's season opener, Green was 22-of-32 passing for 184 yards and three touchdowns. The senior quarterback also added 13 rushing yards in the ground, as the Sagehens defeated Willamette, 42-23.

Defensive Athlete of the Week

The Stags held Northwestern (Minn.) to just 14 points in their season-opening win, in which Gerber collected eight tackles, including four for losses, three sacks, and a forced fumble. In the first quarter, the senior defensive lineman registered a sack that led to a fumble recovered by CMS. The Stags went on to kick a field goal on the ensuing possession. In the fourth quarter, Gerber sacked the quarterback for a third time, which forced the Eagles to punt.

Cuevas was a perfect 3-for-3 on his field goal attempts in La Verne's 30-3 win over Azusa Pacific. He also added three successful extra-point attempts to account for 12 points on the day. On kickoffs, the junior totaled 369 yards on seven attempts, two of which resulted in touchbacks.
