Elle Marsyla of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges came back from a four-second deficit entering the final lap to win the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field 10k title.
Marsyla was part of a five-runner lead group for the first third of the race before Concordia Wisconsin's Ainara Sainz De Rozas began to separate, drawing only the CMS senior along. Marsyla ran off the leader's shoulder for about 5k until De Rozas kicked into gear just a bit early, then staged a final-lap rally for the ages, overtaking De Rozas over the final 50 meters to set a new meet-record time of 33:38.71. In so doing, Marsyla became the first SCIAC individual national champion in women's track & field since 2019 (Reyna Ta'amu, Redlands) and first in a running event since a trio of Athenas won in 2018.
