The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Athenas reclaimed the SCIAC Women's Tennis Tournament crown from Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday morning.
The hosts took the doubles point with wins on each of the top two courts but the Sagehens dug in and won two first sets in singles before four matches went to a third set.
Ananya Sriniketh recorded the first singles point in pulling out a three-setter at #2, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, before
Leah Baroudi brought the Athenas within one point of clinching after a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win at #4.
Bell Zhou then recorded the only straight-set victory at court #3, 6-2, 7-5, finishing simultaneously with
Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne at #5 (3-6, 6-4, 6-4).
