Two individual event victories helped Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges slightly extend their narrow lead to 12.5 points over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on the second day of the 2026 SCIAC Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship.

Rookie
Pierce McShane and
Kenny Eckel claimed individual titles in the 500-yard freestyle and 200 IM to open the evening for the Stags, who sit on 359.5 points ahead of the Sagehens with 347. Chapman University ranks third with 298 points, followed by Whittier College (155.5), Caltech (151), California Lutheran University (141), Occidental College (103), the University of Redlands (92) and the University of La Verne (39).
McShane jumped ahead early in the 500 to lead by about one second at the 200-yard mark and held on to clock a victorious 4:28.48 despite a strong late charge by Pomona-Pitzer’s
Quinn Delaney who spent the first half of the race in third before kicking into gear at the 350-yard mark to finish second. Whittier’s
Thomas Langlois took third place just a second behind while Chapman’s
Trent Calloway won the ‘B’ final heat, holding off a serious mid-race push by Sagehen
Joe Dienstag.
Eckel’s 1:49.01 took the 200 IM as the sophomore surged ahead after the fly.
Kyle Huang of Pomona-Pitzer was a second back and Caltech’s
Zachary Pestrikov touched in third for the bronze.
The Sagehens took over from that point on with a podium sweep of the 50 Free as
Casey Jacobs,
Adrian Clement and
Justin Cong finished within .27 of one another. Chapman was right behind with a 4-5-6 finish to pull in a key 42 points. The 400 Medley Relay team of
Nathan Xu,
Nate Levy,
Diego Hodge and Jacobs turned in a decisive four-second win, clocking a 3:15.44 ahead of CMS (Eckel,
Evan Deedy, Shue,
Sean Su) and Caltech’s
Aaron Dumas,
Thomas Fenton,
Marcel Liu and
Simon Hu.
