Russo racked up 325 yards passing and another 109 gained on the ground with five touchdown contributions in a 41-17 win at Willamette University. The junior completed passes to eight different receivers and touchdowns to three players while rushing for two, with a long pass of 80 yards and long run of 29.
Defensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Michael Houk
School: Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Year: Senior
Position/Number: Defensive Lineman / #96
Hometown/High School: San Marcos, Calif. / The Bishop’s School
Houk and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges defense held Lake Forest College, which posted a 10-1 record last season, scoreless for all but six seconds of a 14-7 victory. Houk’s six tackles included a pair of sacks, one of which stopped the opening Lake Forest possession on third down and the other forcing a turnover on downs to begin the second quarter. The senior notched a third tackle-for-loss on the CMS 1-yard line and stopped runs for no gain, one yard and two yards in a dominant performance.

Name: Kyle Howie
School: California Lutheran
Year: Senior
Position/Number: Punter / #14
Hometown/High School: Oak Park, Calif. / Agoura
Howie launched seven punts for an average of 46.1 yards, booming two past 50 yards including a 57-yarder inside the 20 late in the fourth quarter that left Pacific Lutheran University able only to reach the 20-yard line before time expired to seal the victory.
