Women's Track & Field All-Conference Awards: Repeat Champs Carlson (CU), Adams (UR) Take Athlete of Year Accolades

Multi-sport star Annika Calrson has been named the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Year while University of Redlands senior Maigan Adams repeated as Field Athlete of the Year.

Carlson posted a trio of victories in the 1500-meter run, 5k and 3k steeplechase, the latter of which set a new meet record.

Adams once again completed the long jump-triple jump double. The performances marked Adams' seventh and eighth career All-Conference accolades, which includes three triple jump titles.

California Lutheran University's Taylor Dominguez earned Newcomer of the Year honors after tying for second in both the high jump and pole vault.

Caltech's Emily Hu was presented with the Jennifer Stary Award in recognition of the senior exemplifying the conference's high ideals including ability, leadership, determination, sportsmanship and sincerity of academic pursuit. Hu has earned a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Astrophysics and minoring in Computer Science while conducting research in an instrumental role on the operations team for the NASA Lunar Trailblazer mission. A dedicated member of the Caltech community who has served as a Teaching Assistant and chair of the Gender Minorities and Women in Physics, Math and Astronomy club, Hu has balanced competitive excellence with many academic commitments as an exemplary leader and will go on to pursue a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics after graduation.

Glenn Stewart and the CMS crew won Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Athenas to reclaim the conference championship by a razor-thin four points. The Athenas racked up 16 total All-Conference performances at the championship meet, including seven individual champions.

Katriona Kirkpatrick of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Kaylee Smith from Chapman tied for the most podium appearances with four apiece, bringing Smith's career total to a whopping 13. Teammate Allison Kremer garnered 12 career All-Conference honors, followed by nine from Eleanor Bachmeier (UR) and eight each for Kirkpatrick and two-time Field Athlete of the Year Maigan Adams (UR). Another Panther, Khyra Stiner, has totaled six along with Olivia Reichle (PP).
