Offensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Tobey Schmidt
School: Redlands
Year: Junior
Position/Number: Quarterback / #9
Hometown/High School: Tustin, Calif. / Tustin (Fullerton Coll.)
 
Schmidt drove the University of Redlands to its first SCIAC win of the season, 17-10 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. The junior transfer completed a superb 26 of 31 passes for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns to account for both Bulldogs scores.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Tate Zimmerman
School: Chapman
Year: Senior
Position/Number: Linebacker / #26
Hometown/High School: Irvine, Calif. / Irvine
 
Zimmerman and the Chapman University Panthers came away with the win, defeating Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 17-10 in a battle atop the Surf Division between the past two conference champions. The senior’s 10 total tackles led the team with four unassisted tackles for loss including two sacks to combine for 24 negative yards. Zimmerman also deflected a pass that was corralled by his fellow inside linebacker Andrew Buck who then returned the favor on the next drive by punching the ball out for Zimmerman to scoop up on the fumble recovery and keep the Sagehens off the board in the fourth quarter.
 
Special Teams Athlete of the Week
Name: Logan Bowers
School: CLU
Year: Senior
Position/Number: Inside Linebacker / #42
Hometown/High School: Bakersfield, Calif. / Garces Memorial
 
Bowers blocked two kicks to help RV California Lutheran University remain undefeated at the halfway mark of the regular season. The senior also totaled seven tackles including an assisted tackle for loss.
