Gvishi, a water polo attacker, led the Bulldogs to their first men’s water polo national championship last fall as they went from a fifth place finish during the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular season to finishing as the postseason tournament runner-up and earning a bid into the USA Water Polo National Championships. His conference performance earned him All-SCIAC Second Team honors.
Gvishi tied for the team lead with 47 goals while leading the team with 27 assists and 74 points. In the five games at the SCIAC Tournament and national championships he scored four times and assisted on seven goals for 11 points. His regular and postseason contributions earned him an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America honor. With the honor, along with two of his teammates, they became the first ACWPC All-Americans in program history.
Gvishi and the Bulldogs will begin their title defense in 2023 at the Air Force Academy Invite on September 2-3 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
