Sebastian Romero floated a deep shot over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net for a go-ahead score in the sixth minute and top-seeded Occidental College never looked back in an eventual 3-0 victory over the University of Redlands to claim the first SCIAC Tournament crown in program history.

Romero's strike was the second-fastest in SCIAC Tournament history by a single second, registered at 5:01. Oxy set a new record for most goals scored (six) and became the ninth team to record a pair of shutouts over both games of the tournament.
