Friday Spotlight: Sydney Patterson, Redlands Swim & Dive

Major: Business Management and Public Policy with an Asian Studies minor

Sydney Patterson started her fourth season as a Bulldog in a dual against the University of La Verne as she won the 1M and 3M Diving events. She then was the winner in the 1M and the runner-up in the 3M during the Bulldogs’ dual with Chapman University.

Last season at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships she finished fourth in the 1M Diving finals with a score of 430.55 and sixth in the 3M Diving finals with a score of 369.15. Her 1M score is a personal best and her preliminary round score of 408.25 in the 3M was also her personal best.

Her performance qualified her for the NCAA Regional Diving Championships where she was 13th in the 1M and 10th in the 3M with scores of 336 and 349.60.

At the 2022 SCIAC Championships Patterson took second in the 1M (11 dives) final with 424 points and second in the 3M (11 dives) with a score of 441.90. Those performances earned her All-SCIAC in both events.

In her career she has been named the SCIAC Diver of the Week 3 times (Feb. 7, 2022, Feb. 1, 2022, Jan. 25, 2022). 

In the classroom Patterson has been named a Redlands Scholar-Athlete and made the Dean’s List. She was a member of the Bulldogs’ 2023 Spring, 2022 Fall, 2022 Spring, and 2021 Fall College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-America teams.

As a senior, she is still considering her postgraduate options.
