Athenas, Sagehens Among Top 10 Through First Day of NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges rank eighth and ninth, respectively, through the first day of the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championship.

Bennett Jones recorded the top finish among all SCIAC competitors with a fourth-place result in the 200-yard Individual Medley, dropping more than a second from the morning preliminaries to clock a 2:01.70. SCIAC Newcomer of the Year Elyse Newlands also placed 13th in the event for CMS.

Francesca Coppo took eighth place in the 50 Free with Madeleine Kan winning the consolation heat to place ninth in 22.93, which would have been fourth in the final heat. CMS placed eighth in the 400 Medley Relay and Pomona-Pitzer finished 16th to cap the evening session.
