Eight medal-earning performances staked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges to a big lead after the first day of the 2026 SCIAC Women’s Track & Field Championship.

Dragseth’s meet-record in the 10k was one of four gold-medal performances for the Athenas along with Olivia Backholm (3k steeplechase), Sophia Laudi (javelin) and Emily Ortiz (hammer). Madeline Seifert was runner-up in the long jump and each of Jie Yi Denise Chen, Ellabelle Higgins, Revere Schmidt and Quinn Smith each earned bronze medals.

Chapman University’s Lindsey Gray won the only other scored event, taking first place in the long jump. Jadyn Ayala, Brenda Daza and Eva Ndoye each finished runner-up in an event. Megan Cover reached the podium after a second-place finish in the 3k steeplechase for Occidental College and Elisabeth Eichinger took third in the long jump for the University of Redlands. Pomona-Pitzer matched Oxy’s third-place score without any medal winners, with the University of La Verne, Caltech and California Lutheran University rounding out the standings.
