NCAA Championship: Bulldogs One Win Away From Final Series

No. 2 University of Redlands defeated No. 16 Rowan University, 10-2, in five innings to continue in the winner’s bracket and are now one victory away from reaching the final series in the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s College World Series.

Box Score

The Profs, representing the only institution with both baseball and softball teams in the College World Series this year, scored to open the game on an RBI double but Redlands had an immediate answer as back-to-back doubles by Katlyn Gandara and Natalie Lowthers plated two and a throwing error allowed Lowthers to score soon after for the 3-1 lead. Gandara worked through a quick second inning that was extended briefly on a third-strike passed ball and the Bulldogs loaded the bases in the bottom stanza but did not score.

Rowan capitalized on two errors in the next frame that allowed one run to score, but that would be all the Profs could muster. Meanwhile, Redlands regained the two-run margin in the bottom of the third, then tacked on five more in the fourth and run-ruled the game in the fifth. Gandara struck out two while allowing just four hits in the five-inning complete game and smacked two doubles for three RBI to go with a walk. Both Leila Gomez and Jenay Scott recorded three hits apiece with Gomez scoring three runs and Scott reaching four times thanks to a walk.

The Bulldogs will be rewarded with a day off tomorrow as just two elimination games take place and will await the survivor in the Sunday, May 31 opener at 8 a.m.
