No. 2 University of Redlands bounced back from a rough start to rally for six runs in the third inning and end the game early, 11-3 (6), over defending national champion No. 5 Trine University in the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Women’s College World Series opener.

Maya Holshoe launched a bases-clearing triple into the gap in right centerfield and later scored on a sacrifice fly to flip the margin in the Bulldogs’ favor. Redlands tacked on another run in the fourth and run-ruled the game with just one out recorded in a four-run sixth. Holshoe played a part in seven runs, ending the game with five RBI and two runs while recording three hits.
Jenay Scott also enjoyed a three-hit day in as many at-bats and reached once via walk.
The series will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3 at 8 a.m. with an if-necessary rubber game immediately following.
