Chapman University's Rose Malen has been named the NFCA Division III Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 17.

Malen, a senior pitcher from San Rafael, Calif., went 3-0 for the week and tossed her first collegiate no-hitter in an 8-0 five-inning victory over Dickinson last Monday as part of the (16-4) No. 18 Panthers’ 6-0 Hawaii trip. The right-hander followed that up with a five-hitter last Tuesday against Minnesota-Morris, then took a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Sunday in Chapman’s return to the mainland versus Pacific Lutheran, allowing just one hit in the 6-1 victory on a solo homer.

Before that, Malen had pitched 17 consecutive scoreless innings. For the week, she compiled a 0.39 ERA and held opponents to a .105 batting average.
