Men's Track & Field All-Conference Awards: Multi-Event Stars Fara (CU), Huset (UR) Garner Top Accolades

Chapman University's Mason Fara and Jacob Huset of the University of Redlands have been named the SCIAC Track and Field Athletes of the Year.

Fara won both the 200-meter and 400m dashes, setting a new meet record in the latter. The junior also ran a leg on the third-place 4x100 Relay.

Huset repeated as decathlon champion in addition to winning gold in the high jump. The senior improved on last year's multis performance by nearly 400 points and was the lone competitor to clear 1.92 meters in the high jump.

Teammate Jude Holling was named Newcomer of the Year after placing third in the 400m hurdles and on the 4x400 Relay.

Jesse McMillan was presented with the Dixon Farmer Award in recognition of the senior exemplifying the conference's high ideals including ability, leadership, determination, sportsmanship and sincerity of academic pursuit. A cornerstone of Chapman’s program as a four-time All-American, SCIAC champion and national runner-up at the indoor pole vault this year, McMillan is pursuing a double major in business and accounting. Known for exceptional leadership, determination and sportsmanship, McMillan will have a lasting influence with the Panthers as a leader by example while competing with fairness and integrity.

Glenn Stewart and the CMS staff won Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Stags to a decisive 54-point victory. CMS garnered 13 All-Conference performances, including five event champions.

Fara, Occidental College's Shane Kawakami-Williams and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges' Gavin Doig all tied for the most podium appearances this year with three apiece. Fara now has totaled eight career All-Conference honors, with Kawakami-Williams reaching seven after earning four as Newcomer of the Year last spring. Oscar Roering (PP) ended the meet with six career accolades while Joshua Martinez (CMS) and Kevin Reid (ULV) each notched a fifth career honor.
