PP's Mello Earns National Runner-Up as Sagehens Close NCAA Championships Strong

Valerie Mello of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges earned another national runner-up finish to close out the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship with an eighth-place team finish for the Sagehens.
 
Women’s Results 
 
Pomona-Pitzer's came a half-point shy of seventh place with 201.5, followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in 16th (56) and Chapman University in 38th (3).

The Sagehens dominated the 100-yard Freestyle, with Mello's runner-up finish joined by Nina Aballea who tied for seventh and Francesca Coppo securing 16th, capping a standout event for Pomona-Pitzer. Izzy Yoon dropped time in both prelims and finals of the 200 Back, clocking a 1:59.63 to secure a sixth-place finish on the national stage. Emmie Appl went stroke-for-stroke in a tightly contested 200 Breast final, ultimately securing seventh place.
