Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges lefty-attacker
Nick Kennedy and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges goalkeeper
Greg Moore have been named the Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Year for the 2025 All-SCIAC teams.
Kennedy led the conference with an incredible 75 points on 41 goals and 34 assists for a CMS squad that posted the top goal differential of +92 in 12 games. The Stags offense averaged 16.5 goals per game while compiling an 11-1 record with the lone defeat coming via a single goal.
Moore earned a handful of SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades in stopping a conference-best 54 percent of shots faced, ranking second in the league with 102 saves across just nine appearances.
Newcomer of the Year recognition went to fellow Sagehen
Jaden Winters, who led the regular season champions to an unbeaten 12-0 mark with 35 goals and 49 total points. The natural center defender played all over the pool for Pomona-Pitzer while also racking up 16 steals, 11 drawn exclusions and a 9-for-10 record on sprints.
Another Stag,
Thomas Walker, was acknowledged with the Character Award, which is presented to a senior who best exemplifies success in the pool, classroom and with involvement in community and school service. A leader on the team and in the campus community, Walker has been an impactful part of the squad’s community service project providing companionship and engagement with the residents of a local Senior Community. Also serving as a Resident Assistant in the dorms, CFO for student government and previously having contributed on SAAC and as dorm treasurer, Walker has built strong relationships between athletics and the Dean of Students and Title IX offices.
Alex Rodriguez and the Sagehens bench were recognized as the Coaching Staff of the Year after leading Pomona-Pitzer to an unbeaten 12-0 mark in conference play with a league high-tying four First Team All-SCIAC selections.
CMS tied Pomona-Pitzer with four First Team and total selections, with the University of Redlands landing three total including First Team junior college transfer
Oliver Finley. The University of La Verne landed one First Team choice in JUCO transfer
Josh Lamberton while Occidental College and Whittier College each picked up a pair of Second Team honorees and California Lutheran University and Chapman University had one player apiece on the Second Team.
Luke “Bear” Weigle of CMS earned the rare distinction of making four career appearances on the First Team while Kennedy will have a chance to do the same next year. Pomona-Pitzer’s
Zach Whitfield also earned a third consecutive First Team honor with a year left to play.
Davin Castillo (Chapman) picked up a second career recognition while Oxy’s
Travis Hughes and Whittier’s
Zander Montoya each repeated on the Second Team. Last season’s Newcomer of the Year, WC’s
Noah Bigara, debuted on the Second Team.
