CMS Extends 15-Year Women's Cross Country Championship Run

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, ranked fourth in the nation, extended the conference's second-longest active title streak across all sports to 15 at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges early Saturday morning.

Elle Marsyla capped a brilliant return from injury last year with an individual title, crossing the finish line in 21:39.21 just five seconds ahead of teammate Riley CapuanoHope Dragseth made it a sweep of the top three with another trio of Athenas placing in fifth, sixth and eighth for a total of 17 points as CMS comprised the vast majority of the lead pack of five for the majority of the race.

The Sagehens finished as runner-up with 50 points while Occidental College was third with 104, followed by Chapman University in fourth (124), Caltech (143), California Lutheran University (169), the University of Redlands (191) and the University of La Verne (200). Joya Terdiman placed fourth for the Sagehens and teammate Eva Novy-Hildesley crossed in ninth. Chapman's Brenda Daza finished in seventh and Summer Gelman rounded out the Top-10 for Cal Lutheran.

Pomona-Pitzer will host the NCAA West Regional in two weeks on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m.
