NCAA Regional: Athenas Clinch Regional Title, NCAA Berth

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Athenas won the NCAA West Regional Women's Cross Country Championship to earn automatic qualification to the NCAA Championship.

Results

CMS won by 50 points over Colorado College (33-83) with all five scorers placing along the top 12 runners, including runner-up Riley Capuano and Elle Marsyla in third place. 

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges' Joya Terdiman and Eve Novy-Hildesley placed eighth and 15th, respectively, to put the Sagehens in position to receive an at-large bid while Chapman University's Brenda Daza also secured NCAA qualification with a 10th-place finish. Occidental College's Jenna LeNay is in the mix for individual selection as well with s 23rd-place finish just one second ahead of the next would-be qualifier. Individuals who place among the top seven in their region from non-qualifying teams receive invitations to race at NCAAs next weekend in Spartanburg, S.C.
