Ray kept No. 1 University of La Verne unbeaten over a three-win week that included a 3-0 sweep of No. 19 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. The senior notched two double-doubles, averaging 5.6 kills per set (56 total) on a .336 hitting percentage with 32 digs (3.20 per set), seven block assists, three aces and two assists.

Name: Alyssa Gonzalez
School: Whittier
Year: Sophomore
Position/Number: Libero / #1
Hometown/High School: Glendora, Calif. / St. Lucy’s Priory
 
Gonzalez averaged 4.90 digs per set as Whittier College maintained its hold on a SCIAC Tournament berth with a 2-1 week, falling only to No. 1 University of La Verne. The sophomore libero totaled nine assists and 36 digs in the Poets’ two victories, including a 19-dig effort to outlast Occidental College in a five-setter.
