Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges continue to lead the 2023-24 SCIAC All-Sports Standings through the winter update.
The Athenas and Stags maintained their lead atop both the men’s and women’s sport charts to increase CMS’ lead on second-place Pomona-Pitzer Colleges by one point, now standing at a margin of seven. Chapman University vaulted up a spot into third place with a narrow two-point lead over California Lutheran University, followed by the University of Redlands 1.5 points ahead of Occidental College. The University of La Verne, Caltech and Whittier held their respective positions from seventh through ninth.
All-Sport Standings
The Stags claimed the men’s swimming & diving title while men’s basketball and women’s swimming & diving were runner-up. The Sagehens claimed a championship in women’s swimming & diving, with their men’s team second and basketball third. Chapman benefited from third-place finishes by both swimming & diving squads.
Both Cal Lutheran basketball teams stood atop the standings, with the men winning the title outright and women sharing it with La Verne. Redlands’ top finish came in women’s basketball at fourth place. Occidental women’s basketball led the Tigers with a third-place finish, while Caltech men’s swimming & diving placed fourth and Whittier women’s basketball tied for fifth.
