CMS' Angle Named D3CA Region X Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges men's basketball star Josh Angle has been named the Division III Commissioner's Association Region X Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year.

Selection criteria for the award included considerations based on academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership and a personal statement submitted by each nominee.

The 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Men's Basketball Team Member of the Year, Angle also earned D3hoops.com Third Team All-America recognition for the Stags after averaging 21.5 points per game to rank among the top 20 in the nation. He was also in the top 10 (eighth) in three-point percentage at 45.0 and scored in double figures in every game. He helped CMS into the national rankings after opening week with 37 points in a win over No. 2 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and led the Stags to a 21-5 final record to earn the #2 seed in the SCIAC Tournament.

Angle graduated with a 3.93 GPA from Claremont McKenna College, earning both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the Robert Day School. He was also one of 10 finalists for the Josten's Award, given to the top men's basketball student-athlete in Division III. 

Voting was conducted by the commissioners within each of the 10 regions, with the top honorees recognized as finalists for the Awards Committee. As a regional winner, Angle will advance to the national ballot for consideration for 2022-23 D#CA Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year recognition.
