BARCELONA – 2025 marks the 10th consecutive year that Whittier College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Jensen has organized and led an international postseason tour made of senior hoopers from the SCIAC. Dubbed the SCIAC All-Star Tour back in 2015, Coach Jensen’s postseason tours have become a unique tradition for hoopers in the conference, focused on giving graduating players one last competitive experience or even an opportunity to keep playing abroad. In the 10 years of the trip, previous teams have gone to Italy, Greece, Iceland & Denmark, Czechia & Hungary, France, Costa Rica, Portugal & Morocco, England & Ireland, Croatia & Slovenia and this summer, Spain.
In previous years, the teams consisted of 10 players chosen from the nine SCIAC schools, and in those 10 years, every single SCIAC school has been represented. 2025 generally marked the end of the COVID-19 pandemic fifth-year senior season extension granted by the NCAA and that resulted in an extraordinarily high number of graduating seniors in the conference. So, for the first time ever, the SCIAC All-Star Tour expanded to three teams, each of which spent separate eight-day stints in Barcelona this summer competing and sight-seeing.
The first team consisted of Devon Lewis (CLU), Evan Portnoi (CIT), Ignacio Bettinelli (WC), Desi Burrage (CLU), Riley Wood (CIT), Ryan Hoffman (CLU), Tyler Wattes (WC), Tommy Griffits (CLU) and Taj Regans (CLU).
The second team to tour was Aamari Smith (WC), CJ Jones (CMS), Miles Griffin (CLU), Jacob Hamermesh (Oxy), Jake Martin (CLU), Andrew Waldman (Oxy), Nick Attanasio (CLU), Bernie Cassidy (Oxy), and Stephen Davis (CLU).
And the final team to compete was Joe Cookson (PP), Kendrick Currey (UR), Owen Avdalovic (PP), Logan Howard (ULV), Kyle Jasper (PP), Nick Saccaccio (CU), Pete Boyle (PP), Peyton Mullarkey (PP), Ty Bergman (PP) and again CJ Jones (CMS)
