The SCIAC's two nominees for the Division III Commissioners Association Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year Award are Advik Mareedu of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges men's tennis team and Lucas Gordon of the University of Redlands men's basketball team.
The pair will now advance to regional voting, which will be determined by comissioners. One student-athlete will move on from each of the NCAA's 10 regions for national consideration, and the national winner will be announced on September 3.
A two-time DIII Singles National Champion and four-time All-American in singles, Mareedu capped off his illustrious career with the Stags as the program's all-time leader in singles wins. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native won a staggering 144 singles matches across 159 contests. This past Spring, he helped lead his team to a National Runner-Up trophy in addition to the second of his two Singles National Championships. Additionally, Mareedu was the SCIAC Athlete of the Year in each of his four seasons.
Gordon ended his time with the Bulldogs as a two-time First Team All-SCIAC member and a 2026 D3Hoops Second Team All-American. His senior year was highlighted by several other accolades, including SCIAC Athlete of the Year, D3Hoops Region X Player of the Year, and an NABC D3 All-Star selection. In 2025, Gordon and Redlands finished as the conference's regular season champions and earned a trip to the NCAA Sectional Finals. His 725 career rebounds are good for second all-time in program history.
