Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges duo
Lindsay Eisenman and
Rebecca Kong won the NCAA Division III women's doubles title over Babson College's Cristiani/Sikharulidze.
Eisenman and Kong had already won the ITA doubles title in the fall ITA Cup.
The Athenas cruised to a 6-1 victory in the first set before stumbling in the second, 6-2. A back-and-forth third set opened with four consecutive breaks of serve, then settled down through a 5-5 score when the CMS tandem came up with a break to put themselves in position to take the match. Babson took the first point and held on to force a deciding tiebreaker, in which Eisenman and Kong won the first three points to take control and held on for the 7-3 victory.
