Samson Li became only the second men's golfer in conference history to be named Athlete and Newcomer of the Year in their debut season, joining recently graduated Stag
Michael Ma who achieved the double-up for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in 2022.
Li placed second individually at the SCIAC Championship after topping the leaderboard at the first regular season SCIAC tournament, Olivas Links, and recording a top-10 finish in SCIAC 2 at Morongo Golf Course at Tukwet Canyon. The Stags were victorious by 20 strokes in the Championship at Santa Anita Golf Course.
Teammate
Jack Rende was presented the Jesse Clark Sportsmanship Award, which goes to the golfer who best demonstrates the high quality of skills and sportsmanship exemplified by the 1965 CMS graduate who died in action in Vietnam. Rende's leadership has set the tone for the CMS program through a steady, selfless team-first mindset that elevates everyone through character and performance.
Mitchell Fedorka and the Stags earned the Coaching Staff of the Year award in recognition of the team's dominance this season, with all five scorers among the top 11 finishers at the Championship. CMS has climbed to No. 6 in the nation after reaching a high of fourth in early April, having won seven of nine competitions played this spring with four rookies regularly scoring.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges picked up two First Team selections and California Lutheran University nabbed one. A strong charge from Occidental College at the Championship resulted in three players being named to the Second Team while Chapman University and the University of Redlands landed one on each squad.
John Kim earned a third First Team and fourth career All-SCIAC honor for the Sagehens while
Arnold He of CMS repeated on the First Team. The 2024 Newcomer of the Year,
Jay Wing, stepped up from the Second Team for Redlands after a one-year hiatus and
Jamison Tan (CMS) rounded out the returners as a three-time All-SCIAC selection.
