Athenas Leading Through First Three Events in Women’s Swim & Dive Championship

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges lead title-defending Pomona-Pitzer Colleges by 22 points after the first day of the 2026 SCIAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.
 
Day One Results
 
The Athenas totaled 151 points across the 200-yard Medley Relay, 800 Free Relay and 1-meter diving board. Pomona-Pitzer has 129 with Caltech trailing by 35 in third place. Chapman University has 87 points and are just two ahead of California Lutheran University, followed by Occidental College (77), the University of Redlands (60), Whittier College (56) and the University of La Verne (36).
 
Simone Sabeeh, Meilan Uyeno and Josie Kearns swept the 1m board for CMS to haul in 43 points. The CMS quartet of Annika Sharma, Elyse Newlands, Sun Young Byun and Madeleine Kan set a new meet record (1:41.58) in the 200 Medley Relay with Pomona-Pitzer hot on their heels and Chapman taking third.
 
It was the Sagehens’ turn to set a record in the 800 Free Relay and did one better, shattering the SCIAC mark by more than two seconds with a 7:21.56. Ellie Burkhardt and Nina Aballea both split under 1:50 with the former at 1:49.02 between teammates Chesna Pelka and Charlotte Dixon. CMS was a clear second place and Chapman secured third again by just under a full second.
