LOS ANGELES, Calif. –
Alex McCleery Brown was named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, February 16 after a standout performance against a pair of top-15 teams in the nation.
McCleery Brown led the Tigers to a 86-82 win over No. 10 Redlands on Saturday, notching a 28-point, 17-rebound double-double. It was McCleery Brown's second double-double of the week, third in a row and 11
th on the season – the most of any player 6-3 or shorter in the nation.
McCleery Brown scored 12 of his 28 points in the first 3:40 of the game, bringing the Tigers to a 15-3 lead at the time, with the Tigers leading by as many as 17 in the first half.
On Wednesday, McCleery Brown tallied a 21-point, 11-rebound performance, bringing the Tigers within one defensive stop from a win over No. 12 Claremont-M-S.
Now averaging 18.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, the sophomore leads the current No. 3 seeded Tigers to their first five team or fewer SCIAC tournament appearance since the 2018-19 season.
They're back in action this week against Chapman and Cal Lutheran on the road Wednesday and Saturday.
