The California Lutheran University Athletics Department has hired Faith Wayman as its new sports information director.

"I am beyond excited to return to Cal Lutheran," Wayman said. "This place is home, and I can't wait to promote and serve our student-athletes alongside the staff and administration who mentored me so well."

Wayman returns to a place where she has had a significant impact. While pursuing her master's degree in 2024-2025, Wayman served as the sports information and marketing graduate assistant (GA) in the inaugural Graduate Assistantship Program.

Wayman's first day will be Jan. 20. She replaces Sports Information Director Kieran Cantwell, with whom she worked as a GA.

"Faith is an outstanding hire for Cal Lutheran," Cantwell said. "She is hard working, intelligent and forward thinking. Working with her for a year was a privilege, and I know she is going to do amazing things for Cal Lutheran and all its student-athletes, coaches, administration and staff."

Wayman previously served as a sports information director at Eastern Oregon University, where she was hired in 2025 after earning her master's degree in sport management from Cal Lutheran.

Wayman, who grew up in Simi Valley, earned a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology: Coaching and Athletic Administration from Bushnell University in 2024, graduating cum laude. She completed a sports information internship at Bushnell. A standout student-athlete during her time with the Beacons, she was a four-year member of the softball team, serving as the chaplain captain and Association of Student Athletes co-representative while managing the program's social media accounts. She was the team's most valuable player and an all-conference selection in 2023 and was a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree.

"Being a student-athlete shaped my perspective and continues to drive my work," Wayman said. "My 'why' comes from understanding the time, effort and commitment these athletes put in every day, and that experience motivates me to serve them and ensure their stories are told in a way that reflects who they are, both in competition and beyond it."

Wayman credits much of her professional development to her time in Cal Lutheran's Graduate Assistantship Program. As a GA, Wayman managed Cal Lutheran's athletic website, wrote game recaps and feature stories, and produced digital content across multiple platforms. She also operated game stats and livestreaming systems, supervised a team of student-workers and supported media days and fan engagement initiatives.

"That experience gave me the skills and confidence I need to step into this role, along with the opportunity to learn from incredible people that I'm excited to work alongside again," she said.

Howard Davis, Cal Lutheran associate vice president and athletic director, said Cal Lutheran's Sport Management Program offers the university a talented pool of GAs who support the program and learn the profession simultaneously.

"Faith's role as a GA and her position at Eastern Oregon University gave her a superb combination of Cal Lutheran Athletics know-how with broader intercollegiate experience," Davis said. "She is an innovative problem-solver with a terrific work ethic, both necessary attributes for this position. We are extremely fortunate to have hired her, and I look forward to watching what she brings to our program."
