The NCAA Division III Championships will be held in Williamsburg, Virginia from May 13-16. A total of 34 teams and six individuals will begin the tournament on Tuesday, with 15 teams advancing after the 36-hole cut on Wednesday.
The Athenas were one of nine teams to earn at-large selections to the 34-team field, after 25 teams received automatic bids. CMS will be trying to earn a top-10 finish for the seventh year in a row (not counting a two-year interruption due to the pandemic). Senior
Emily Chang capped her decorated career as a Sagehen by leading her team to victory in the SCIAC Championship. The team title would be Pomona-Pitzer's third in four years, in all of which Chang played a vital role, but the ultimate prize was to complete the circuit as a team leader and captain. And for it all to come with an individual victory, says Chang, was like "a fairytale in real life." Four years of dedication to the betterment of the program and a lifetime pursuit of a journey in competitive golf led to this moment: Chang, standing over a knee knocker at the last, to cement the team title and secure an individual victory. Right as the putt fell in, Emily fell to her knees, reminiscent of Rory McIlroy just weeks prior at the Masters. This rush of emotion was well suited for a momentous occasion.

There are 34 teams that made the field, and Redlands is one of only nine teams that earned an At-Large selection. It is a 72-hole, four-round competition, but after two rounds and 36 holes the field will be cut down to the Top-15 teams and Top-6 individuals not on one of the 15 rosters.
