Pomona-Pitzer Colleges'
Brienz Lang and
Zosia Amberger swept the Athlete of the Year awards for the Sagehens to headline the 2025 Women's Water Polo All-Conference teams.
Lang, the Offensive Athlete of the Year, led the unbeaten Sagehens with 24 goals in conference play and contributed nine assists to total 33 points for the league's top-ranked offense, which averaged 17.5 goals per game.
Amberger repeated and claimed a third career Defensive Athlete of the Year after leading the SCIAC with a superb .707 save percentage. The senior registered a 5.22 goals-against average on 53 saves while playing the majority of quarters in net for the Sagehens.
Newcomer of the Year honors went to
Jordan LaCour of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. The rookie led the runner-up Athenas in drawn exclusions and ranked among the top five on the squad in goals and points.
Elizabeth Field was presented with the Character Award, in recognition of a senior who best exemplifies success in the pool, in the classroom and with involvement in community and school service. As a graduating senior from Caltech, Field has balanced the rigorous demands of a double major while competing as a three-sport athlete in soccer, swimming, and water polo. With a commitment to sportsmanship and team culture that has matched work to broaden access to science and education, Field has served as a TA for six terms, conducted research and developed a new lab course in Germany, worked with the large hydrogen collider CERN in Switzerland and been involved with numerous initiatives on campus.
Alex Rodriguez and the Sagehen bench received the Coaching Staff of the Year award after leading Pomona-Pitzer to a sixth consecutive regular season crown with a league-best goal difference of 11.8 per game.
Pomona-Pitzer and CMS tied with five selections apiece, including four on the First Team for the Sagehens and three for CMS. Chapman University netted three picks while California Lutheran University landed two. Amberger accomplished the rare feat of earning a fourth career First Team honor after also being named Defensive Athlete of the Year in 2022 and 2024, while Lang jumped up from Second Team last spring. CMS'
Grace Clark made a third consecutive First Team while fellow Newcomer of the Year
Valerie Wraith reached a second. Chapman's
Alyssa Fricker repeated on the First Team for a third career honor, which was matched by
Izzy de Souza of CLU returning after back-to-back Second Team selections in 2022 and 2023. Teammate
Katie Knight repeated on the First Team while
Isabel del Villar (CMS) and
Kendall Pappan (CU) made the Second Team for a second straight season. The University of La Verne's
Brianna Zapata returned to the All-Conference picture after being recognized in 2023.
