Six SCIAC member institutions have been ranked in the fall update of the Learfield Directors’ Cup by NACDA, led by Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at 22
nd in the nation.
The Sagehens garnered 73 points for making it to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship in women’s soccer, 70.5 points for an eighth-place finish in men’s cross country and 61.5 for 14
th in women’s cross country to total 205.00.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges are close behind in 29
th with 181 points thanks to a third-place finish in women’s cross country (85 points), NCAA Championship appearances in both women’s soccer and volleyball as well as 28
th place in men’s cross country.
The University of La Verne nabbed the most points of any SCIAC sport for the fall season with volleyball reaching the NCAA final to earn 90 points, which ranks the Leopards 55
th in the nation across all sports.
California Lutheran University is 90
th (women’s soccer – Round of 16), followed by Chapman University in 97
th place (football – Round of 32) and Occidental College in 133
rd (men’s soccer – NCAA appearance).
