The fourth-seeded Occidental College Tigers defeated Chapman University, 2-0, in Eagle Rock on Monday night to advance to the semifinals of the 2025 SCIAC Women’s Soccer Tournament.

A two-save shutout by Melanie Rodriguez and goals from Mia Merkelbach and Sophia Weigt made the difference as the Tigers defended their home field and earned a chance to face top-seeded No. 6 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Merkelbach got a head on the end of a deep cross to the edge of the six-yard box at the back post to open the scoring in just the 17^th minute. Weigt later curled a free kick from 20 yards out into the right side of the net to double the lead and seal the victory.
