NCAA Tournament: Sagehens Survive on PKs, Headed to Quarterfinals

No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges got two stops while converting each of their penalties following 110 minutes of soccer to move on over No. 9 Washington and Lee University and into the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals.

Box Score

Patricia DePalma made two stops in net before handing things over to Hadley Johnson, who saved four shots over 65 minutes before erasing a pair of penalty efforts. The duo weathered nearly twice as many shots as their offense was able to generate and eight corner kicks, though faced only one additional shot on target as Vivian Rojas Collins and the back line held firm inside the box.

The Sagehens will face No. 2 Emory University tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. PT.
