Cervantes lifted Whittier College squarely into the SCIAC Tournament picture with a pair of game-winning contributions as the Poets notched their first conference wins of the season, including an upset No. 21 California Lutheran University. The senior assisted on the game-winning goal by rookie Logan Bays against the Regals and opened the scoring in a 3-0 victory over the University of Redlands.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Patricia DePalma
School: Pomona-Pitzer
Year: Junior
Position/Number: Goalkeeper / #1
Hometown/High School: Novato, Calif. / Branson
 
DePalma successfully made a save on both occasions the No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges defense needed, posting single-half shutouts in another pair of wins to keep the Sagehens unbeaten on the season at 9-0-2 (5-0-2 SCIAC).
