Zapata struck for five goals with an assist and three steals in a 21-9 University of La Verne season-opening win over the University of Redlands. The senior added a brace with another steal against Division I California Baptist University.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Natalie Favazzo
School: California Lutheran University
Year: Junior
Position: Center Defender
Hometown/High School: West Hills, Calif. / Agoura
 
Favazzo drew four ejections while playing sound defense in the hole set against four ranked Division I teams at the Arizona State University Invitational. The junior added three goals and an assist on offense.
