Offensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Adan Villarreal
School: La Verne

Position: Forward
Hometown/High School: Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho (Rio Hondo)

Villarreal bagged four goals, including the game winner in both season-opening victories for the University of La Verne, which flew 2,000 miles to Wisconsin where the Leopards notched a 4-2 win over Saint John’s (Minn.) University and a 2-1 scoreline against Lakeland University. A transfer from Rio Hondo College where he scored eight goals and assisted two in 2022, Villarreal began his SCIAC career with a hat trick that included two scores off corner kicks and one on a counter attack.

Defensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Owen Jamison
School: Redlands
Year: Jr.
Position: Right Back
Hometown/High School: Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley

Jamieson was a difference-maker at both ends of the field for the University of Redlands, which posted a 4-1 win over Bethesda University and edged University of California, Santa Cruz in a 4-3 thriller. He scored in both games, notching the Bulldogs’ first goal of the season while also anchoring a back line that allowed just 17 shots and nine on goal.
