Lizzy Kerman, an outside hitter, has proven to have high levels of technical skill on the court. She has filled in as libero for the Tigers on multiple occasions. Kerman became the team’s captain in the spring semester of her sophomore year.
Kerman consistently reached double-figures in kills and digs, with two double-doubles earned in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. It is worth noting that the 2022 season was cut short due to a concussion that put her out for the remainder of her junior year and more double-doubles were likely to follow had she been able to continue. She has hit her career high in kills per game twice at 16 and three times in digs per game at 17. Kerman grabbed All-Tournament Team honors at the Pacific Coast Classic in 2022. She received the 2022 Tiger Team Award for displaying unwavering commitment to our core values, including fortitude, effort, and excellence. In her spare time, she serves as a volunteer coach for her high school volleyball team.
A chemistry major participating in year-round research in the Hill lab on the electrochemical catalysis of a P450 cytochrome to promote greener alternatives for oxidation transformations. She has been published twice in previous work with NASA/IPAC Teacher Research Program with her adviser from JPL, Dr. Brandon Rodriguez on the formation of young stellar objects in the IC 417 nebula. Kerman was named the Physical Chemistry student of the year for her performance this past fall by the Chemistry Department. She’s a member of the Oxy ACTION Committee, Oxy SAAC Committee, and has made the Dean’s List every year.
