Offensive Athlete of the Week

Name: Jazzlyn Johnson
School: La Verne
Year: Sophomore
Position: Guard
Hometown: Fontana, Calif.

Jazzlyn Johnson helped La Verne to a 3-0 week that was highlighted by a 78-72 comeback win over Whittier in SCIAC play, as well as an 84-64 win over Pacific Union, and a 95-53 win over Bethesda. Johnson led all players with 31 points as the Leopards' overcame a 20-point deficit to complete the win over the Poets, shooting 52.6% from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range. She also went 8-for-10 from the free throw line against Whittier and totaled 20 rebounds, five assists and two steals during the week. 

Defensive Athlete of the Week

Name: Maezelle Millan
School: Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Year: Junior
Position: Guard
Hometown: Fontana, Calif.

Maezelle Millan led the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) defensive effort in a 64-54 victory over Emory on Friday evening. Millan's biggest contribution came in the fourth quarter as she secured three of her four steals in the final 10 minutes, including two thefts on back-to-back Eagles possessions with less than 2:30 to play in the game as the Athenas held on for the win. Millan added 11 points, a rebound, and four assists in the winning effort.
