SCIAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Honors Announced

The 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) women's basketball teams were announced Thursday morning following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.

Sophomore guard Lucy Criswell of Chapman was named the 2018 SCIAC Athlete of the Year after pacing the Panthers to a 15-1 mark in SCIAC play and a share of the SCIAC regular season title as well as the second seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Criswell, also named a First Team All-SCIAC selection in 2018, averaged a third-best 17.0 points per game during conference play this season, in addition to pulling down 7.1 rebounds per game against league competition. A Portland, Ore. native, Criswell scored in double-figures in 14 conference games, including a season-high 28 points in a 97-69 win over Occidental on Feb. 14.

Pomona-Pitzer's Emma Godfrey turned in a stellar debut collegiate season for the Sagehens, averaging 18.6 points (second best in the SCIAC), and a fourth-best 8.4 rebounds per contest during league play in 2017-18. Godfrey collected 11 double-digit scoring games for Pomona-Pitzer, highlighted by a 38-point effort against La Verne on Jan. 17. For her efforts she was also voted Second Team All-SCIAC.

Chapman's Irma Munoz was voted the Ed Baldwin Sportsmanship Award winner and has been an integral part of the Panthers' program for four years. A leader by example on and off the court, Munoz has displayed good sportsmanship throughout her career. A foster child and East Los Angeles native, Munoz now gives back to the community in which she grew up.

The Chapman coaching staff, led by 15th-year head coach Carol Jue, directed the Panthers to a share of the regular season title for the second straight year. Winners of the tournament title in 2013-14, the Panthers have reached the tournament championship contest in four of the last five years.
