Offensive Athlete of the Week

Name: Nathaniel Sagastume
School: La Verne
Year: Junior
Position: Wide Receiver
Hometown: Garden Grove, Calif.

La Verne wide receiver Nathaniel Sagastume helped the Leopards to a thrilling 20-17 overtime victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS). His biggest play of the game came in overtime with La Verne trailing 17-14. On fourth and eight from the CMS 23-yardline, he made a diving catch in the endzone for the win. In the fourth quarter, he also caught the game-tying two-point conversion to force overtime. 

Defensive Athlete of the Week

Name: Dillon Keefe
School: Chapman
Year: Junior
Position: Linebacker
Hometown: Orange, Calif.

Dillon Keefe led Chapman's defensive efforts in a 36-6 victory over Whittier in SCIAC play. Keefe led the Panthers with nine tackles (4 solo, 5 assisted) including two for a loss of a six yards, highlighted by a sack of five yards. He also recorded his first interception of the season and returned it nine yards. On the first drive of the game, he picked up a blocked punt and returned it 34 yards inside the Poets' 10-yardline to set up the game's first touchdown.

Name: Marcus Ramirez
School: California Lutheran
Year: First-Year
Position: Running Back
Hometown: Imperial Beach, Calif.

Marcus Ramirez helped California Lutheran to a 55-21 victory over Occidental in the SCIAC opener with a stellar performance in the kick return game. Ramirez scampered 81 yards from the Kingsmen's four-yardline to the Tigers' 15 on his first return, and then went 89 yards for a touchdown on his second return of the contest.
