CSC Release

Adrian Clement and Tommy Matheis of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Honza Zika of Whittier College all were selected to the Second Team.

Clement concluded a superb career with 22 All-SCIAC performances and contributed on the 10th- and 12th-place 400 and 200 Free Relays at the NCAA Championship.

Matheis repeated as SCIAC Diver of the Year, matching both results while upping both diving scores from last year’s Newcomer of the Year campaign. The Sagehen placed seventh and ninth on the 1-meter and 3m boards at the NCAA Championship.

After helping the Poets to their best relay finish (fourth) at the SCIAC Championship in at least a decade, Zika put the conference on notice with a brilliant 400-yard individual medley performance to open the third night of competition. The junior college transfer rallied from fifth place at the halfway point to out-split the field by nearly two seconds on the breaststroke leg alone and win by 2.5 seconds, then followed that up the very next night with another come-from-behind win in the 200 Fly, again out-splitting the field by almost 1.5 seconds. Zika placed a high of sixth in the 200 Fly at the NCAA Championship.
