Ryan won 21 draw controls to set up Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges to dominate possession in a season-opening victory over California Lutheran University. Last year’s national draw controls leader added an assist and caused turnover in the win.
 
Defensive Athlete of the Week
Name: Natalie Schumann
School: Redlands
Year: Senior
Position/Number: Defender / #20
Hometown/High School: Murrieta, Calif. / Vista Murrieta
 
Schumann set the tone for a University of Redlands defense that limited Occidental College to just nine shots on goal in a 12-6 victory. The senior caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls in the stalwart effort.
