Stian Asper of Redlands earned Athlete of the Year honors at the 2026 SCIAC Men's Cross Country Championship following his top finish in the race. The senior out of St. Paul, Minn., led the field with a time of 24:33.3 and helped the Bulldogs place third in the team standings.
Additionally, Asper was tabbed as the Ray Adkinson Award winner, presented to a senior athlete who best exemplifies the conference’s high ideals during their association with SCIAC Cross Country. He has not only shown dedication to supporting and leading his teammates, but also been a cornerstone on the Redlands campus. Asper has maintained a 4.0 GPA as a major in both Environmental Studies and Economics and was named the Redlands' Student Leader of the Year after securing funding to establish a free bicycle and lock rental program.
Ryan Fitzpatrick of Pomona-Pitzer registered the fastest time amongst first-years and was named the Newcomer of the Year. The Hillsborough, Calif., native crossed the line with a time of 25:38.5, good for 14th in the individual standings.
Securing a sixth consecutive SCIAC Championship, Kirk Reynolds and the Pomona-Pitzer staff were named the Coaching Staff of the Year. The Sagehens finished with a team score of 33, in which each of their top-seven runners claimed top-20 finishes in the individual standings.
